Do penguins wear pajamas?

Hello to everyone. We've been at it some more. We bought a zoo membership this year and have really taken advantage of it. MMF asks us every day to go. We've been able to take her every week and she loves it! The zoo has been open late on wednesdays all summer so for the past two wednesdays we've closed it down. Tonight as we were driving home she was asking about all the animals going to bed. She saw some penguins going into their shelter and wanted to know if they were going in their house to get their pajamas on. We answered, of course! We can't get enough pictures of the animals so here are some for you to enjoy as well, along with a few pics of our little animal.

A very playful penguin and Missy Monkey Feet. He followed her back and forth in front of the tank copying all her moves. It was very cute.

Missy Monkey Feet goes to her first big girl party.

Our girl went to a makeover birthday party for one of our friends' daughter recently who turned 8. MMF was so excited about it that she carried the invitation around until it was nearly worn out, asking every day if it was the day of the party. When it did come she was so happy. All guests were required to wear a dress. MMF wore a Sleeping Beauty ball gown. When we arrived she was a little shy, but she was soon on her own living it up with the big girls. They started with lunch- decadent heart shaped pb&j, pb&marshmallow, cream cheese & strawberries sandwiches with chips and fruit kabobs. Then we had the girls go to makeover stations- hair, makeup, nails. They decorated a picture frame and tote bag to take home, took turns at a shoe shaped pinata until they got the candy out, had cake and ice cream and finished off the party with a fashion show. Below are some of the results.

Girlfriend glammed up with painted hair, candy jewelry, a tattoo and loot bag from the pinata. She had such a great time at H. birthday party. She was the youngest guest but that didn't stop her from doing everything the big girls did.

Monkey Business

What's going on? More monkey business for Missy Monkey Feet. Here's what we've been up to lately. The first picture is a of a mother gorilla entertaining her own Missy Monkey Feet (look closely under her left arm and you can just make out her baby).
Mr. Gorilla posing for a quick picture.

Missy Monkey Feet waiting her turn on the "horasell". She's sporting a new haircut that we got right before our trip to the zoo.

I like this picture too because it looks like girlfriend is bringin' back the mullet!

Here she is on top of the world!

Here's my big girl riding all by herself for the very first time. This was at Daddy's hometown fair. She really loved this ladybug ride.

Here she is with Papaw riding the "horasell".

A girl, her Papaw, and a bobcat...any questions?

WHEE!!!!

We've been having a really busy summer. We've had lots of visitors and we've spent a lot of weekends with our family. On some of our latest escapades we paused here and there for a quick snapshot to add to our blog. Note that a lot of these are not quite in focus. Good luck recording fun with a toddler who never stops moving. I'm getting better at getting pictures of her in the screen. You have no idea how many photos of grass, rocks, sand and flooring I have where she moves out of the frame faster than I can click a button! Here we caught up with Missy Monkey Feet (MMF) riding the carousel, or as she is fond of saying, the horasell.

I thought this was so pretty. It's at one of the great parks near us.Here is one of our recent visitors. MMF had such a great time playing with him and following him around. I don't believe he was nearly as enthused about being the center of her attention after the first day.

This is one of the places we visited. Isn't it great?

What a poser! Check out Mr. Hog here hammin' it up for a photo op.

This is my favorite picture in this group. I was trying to capture what I was looking at exactly the way it is here. Never happened to me before like that. Even the light turned out well. Not bad for a 1mp camera phone, heh?

MMF with her favorite person (last week).

Here he is again with his mommy. Nice backdrop I think.

Down on the Farm

We had a visitor today so we took her out to a new park we just heard about. There is actually a working farm right inside the park. It was great! Missy Monkey Feet (MMF) loved seeing the animals but was a little surprised by how noisy they really are. Some sounds were right down scary- like the very loud COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO!!! less than a foot from us. Our guest had a good time reminiscing about growing up on a farm. From what we saw it looked like a lot of hard work. It also looked very rewarding. I would trade some of my amenities for the older versions but DEFINITELY NOT the dishwasher!

Here we are with some geese and their babies, MMF climbing the fence to get a better look at the horses- one of which I snapped a picture of while scratching his leg. The next few are the baby calf and piggies, laundry on the clothesline and MMF standing near it. Next, she's pumping water from the well. Our visitor is saying hello to the local mouser, and last are pictures of the back porch of the farmhouse and side yard. I would love to have an old farmhouse somewhere and dress it in antiques. You'll be seeing more pictures from this place in the future I'm sure.
